How to post an announcement in Teams

You are able to post announcements in channels in Teams to notify your colleagues of important activity, events or deadlines.

How to create an announcement in Teams:

Open the channel you want to post your announcement in. Below the type area at the bottom of the page (‘Start a new conversation. Type @ to mention someone’), click the first ‘Format’ button to edit the formatting of your message (see Fig 1)

The message window will expand to offer you formatting options for your post. At the top right corner, instead of ‘New conversation’, choose ‘Announcement‘ as your post type (Fig 2).

Create your announcement – type in a short headline and provide full text below in subheading (this is optional) and main announcement area.

You can post your announcement across multiple teams and channels by selecting ‘Post in multiple channels’ (Fig 2).

You can also choose an illustration or upload an image to decorate your post.
